Your role: In this position you will manage and lead the overall business and activities of the Oncology Business Unit for China and will have P&L responsibility for this unit. You develop, prepare and execute the appropriate Oncology Business Strategy (such as bio-similar, new launch, BD etc.) to ensure the continued sustainable development and growth of the Business Unit and maximize the market potential of our Oncology brands in the market.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Delivers Net Sales and Consolidated EBIT/EBITDA targets outlined in the Budget. Plans, directs and controls overall business activities including marketing & sales. Responsible for resource allocation across ONC China, sets priorities and business objectives for direct reports & the team. Coordinates activities with Medical, finance, MAP, CCD, HR, learning center, BO, BD & other supporting functions.
- Sets budget forecast in alignment with global and monitors business performance and target achievement for sales, collection, inventory levels and profit on a sustained basis.
- Sets the direction and evaluates (new) business opportunities / partnerships / alliances to strengthen Merck Bio-Pharma. China’s position in ONC industry. Develops and seeks approval for partnerships and other business opportunities using the agreed processes.
- Builds and cultivates high performance culture through recognition of performance, enforcing accountability for right results, appropriate talent development and living the Merck Leadership Principles.
- Gives vision, shares goals and fosters talent development in ONC China team. Leads, motivates and coaches the team to ensure success and process improvement through the activities or the programs within the Company.
- Responsible for ensuring all activities within ONC China are compliant with the legal requirements and Company guidelines. Ensures all staff are trained and regularly updated on compliance requirements.
- Build relationships with key customers (hospitals executives, pharmacists, KOLs) in top hospitals, and appropriate government officials, to ensure understanding of customer needs and identify opportunities for further business collaboration.
- Align with global functions on the development of brand and portfolio strategy. Influence global functions to align global strategy with the market need in China and adapt where needed.
- Efficiently manage various stake holders to the benefit of market success of the existing in-market product and the portfolio to be registered.
- Development of annual Operating Plan, Strategic Plan and Brand Plan.
- Ensure access strategies developed are implemented for the products via collaboration of marketing and sales as well as across other functions within Merck Healthcare. Align the various stake holders and relentlessly drive the execution.
- Effective communication with global and local leadership team.
Who you are
- Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, preferably with a MBA.
- Minimum 12-15 years working experience; with 3-5 years in country or general management position in related industry.
- Strong leadership skills, with proven track record in leading cross functional teams
- Sound financial management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking ability balanced with strong execution ability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Frequent English and Mandarin.
