Job Summary
The Accountant within the Fixed Asset Accounting Team plays a pivotal role in supporting the accurate and timely accounting of the company’s fixed assets. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Accountant is responsible for executing day-to-day fixed asset transactions, performing reconciliations, and preparing reports in compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls. This position contributes to process optimization and supports the team’s overall objectives in fixed asset management and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Accounting Operations
- Process and record fixed asset transactions including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and capitalization, ensuring alignment with company policies and accounting standards.
- Perform fixed asset ledger reconciliations and assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end fixed asset schedules and reports.
- Support physical verification of fixed assets, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Assist in reviewing asset purchase contracts and related documentation for completeness and compliance with procurement policies.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Manager in conducting impairment reviews and tracking asset lifecycle information.
- Provide support for internal and external audit activities by supplying necessary documentation and explanations related to fixed assets.
- Maintain fixed asset records within the fixed asset management system and ERP platform.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the fixed asset accounting function.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements relevant to fixed asset accounting processes.
Compliance and Control
- Adhere to internal control policies and procedures in all fixed asset accounting activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and corporate policies related to fixed assets.
- Support the implementation of control measures to mitigate risks in asset management processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to fixed asset accounting preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting standards such as IFRS and HKFRS is advantageous.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and committed to maintaining high accuracy and compliance standards.
