About the Role
As a senior Project Manager, you will lead a portfolio of projects in Springer Nature China Tech Hub incorporating between China team and global teams from inception through to implementation and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Start-up, shape, lead and deliver programmes and projects within the agreed time, budget and quality constraints
- Develop and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships on a global basis and tune into emerging changes within relevant business areas
- Network with globally distributed stakeholders to keep business knowledge current and be proactive in suggesting business process improvements
- Set up the governance processes for assigned projects ensuring that key resources are actively involved in the project in order to meet project objectives Â
- Motivate all project resources in the most appropriate manner to achieve outstanding results in delivering the project
- Challenge the status quo within the business and be proactive in suggesting the best way forward for developing solutions to business problems
- Develop a solid understanding of selected Springer Nature processes, systems and data and their relationship to product strategy and change initiatives, either within or across business divisions, with a view identifying and making recommendations for business process or system improvements that are aligned to changing business needs
- Work with product vendors, implementation partners, and internal technology teams to ensure they deliver robust technical specifications and solutions that meet requirements
- Undertake RFI and RFP initiatives in order to select the most appropriate 3rd party solution to meet the needs of the business
- Support the business product owner, in order to ensure that all stakeholders’ needs are taken into account and correctly represented
- Communicate with stakeholders, in an appropriate format, to ensure that they are provided with the required level of information for decision making, kept well informed of project progress and any potential issues
- Secure buy-in from business and technology stakeholders and maintain this throughout the project lifecycle, in order to allow projects to initiate and reach successful completion and adoption
Key relationships:
- Stakeholders within the China business (Sales, Marketing, Editorial, Finance etc.)
- Project Team (3rd parties, Bus Analysts, Architects, DBA’s, Service Delivery Leads)
- Peers within the Technology teams in both China and Global
Skills and qualifications:
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at multiple levels
- Comprehensive experience leading and delivering business system projects in a global environment
- Thorough 3rd party engagement and management experience including RFI, RFP, Statement of Work creationÂ
- Strong project lifecycle knowledge having delivered multiple projects from start to finish
- Strong understanding of what is required in creating project artefacts
- Understanding of both waterfall and agile project management techniques
- Ability to create appropriate level project plans to meet the project need
- Ability to present and communicate technology led opportunities to the business
- Sound self-organization and planning skills
- Knowledge of organizational change management techniques
- Strong written, oral communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Flexible, able to quickly switch gears and ‘keep multiple irons in the fire’
- Proactive rather than reactive
- Proven ability as a self-starter and results focused
- Comfortable working in unstructured and fragmented organizations
- Good knowledge of some of ERP, Digital, Marketing and Finance modules or process
- Nice to have - Professional Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince 2)
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years’ Project delivery experience at least 5 of which is in Programme or Project Management
- Experience of managing a portfolio of interconnected or diverse projects
- Experience of the organisational complexities in a multi-national matrix organisation would be useful
- Knowledge and experience of the publishing industry and processes would be useful
- A background of Business Process Reengineering would be useful
