Senior Data Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

Provide database and analytical support for multiple initiatives, projects, and programs. Perform data analyses using appropriate statistical methods and graphical display standards. Retrieve and analyze data and present reports to management for use in supporting operations and business objectives. Provide recommendations for improvement and written documentation that relates to the analysis of the data. Develop in-depth knowledge of customer information systems, and provide training and support to users.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide database and analytical support for multiple initiatives, projects, and programs.
• Design, implement, and deliver reports, exception reports, measurements, and analyses to support customer-focused, data-driven analysis.
• Perform data analyses using appropriate statistical methods and graphical display standards.
• Retrieve and analyze data and present reports to management for use in supporting operations and business objectives.
• Analyze, summarize and present information and data for discussion and decision making.
• Provide recommendations for improvement and written documentation that relates to the analysis of the data. Research data anomalies and issues.
• Work with data source systems and target systems to identify data issues and data gaps. May track status and develop/update data source systems and target systems. Identify and recommend solutions as needed.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelors degree of equivalent combination of education and experience required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong/extensive knowledge of data management systems such as SAP, Oracle and Beacon, LIMS, etc. and data quality management
• Strong/advanced knowledge of data, databases, and their manipulation (SQL, Pivot Tables, etc); advanced Access, Excel, Business Objects and statistical software (JMP, Minitab, SAS) knowledge
• Strong/advanced knowledge of statistical methods used for data analysis; SPC, descriptive statistics, basic statistical tests such as tests, ANOVA, MTBF, Confidence Intervals, etc.
• Solid understanding of good graphical display standards and various graphical techniques
• Ability to quickly learn and leverage various software tools and systems
• Ability to frame a complex diagnostic question appropriately, develop an analytical strategy, assemble the relevant data and results to clearly communicate a coherent set of conclusions.
• Demonstrated project management skills. Can lead own projects and manage or coach other’s projects from concept to successful implementation.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to present information to all levels of the organization.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate, coach, mentor and resolve conflict
• Strong leadership skills with experience influencing and motivating people at all levels.
• Ability to work with requestors to understand their true needs and to communicate complex analysis results to all levels of the organization.
• Results oriented Self Starter, ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines with limited supervision; strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Detail orientated with ability to follow-through
• Ability to work in a team environment across multiple functions and divisions

• Typically assigned routine database and analytical initiatives, projects and programs with a basic to moderate complexity. Provide routine and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
• Entry level with basic and developing skills and abilities.
• May assist senior Data Analysts.
• Participates on projects and teams.
• Consults with senior peers on projects and analysis to learn through experience.
• Works under close to moderate supervision, taking direction from senior peers and management.
• Solves problems as part of a team and assumes responsibility as appropriate.
• 2 - 4+ years of related experience
