Role Purpose
Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables research team provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support our client’s commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing supply chain landscape.
Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, conventional power and grid technologies, with our global power and fuels modelling and analytical capabilities, Wood Mackenzie can provide data and insight spanning supply chain, technology costs, policy and market issues, fundamentals-based outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market issues among many other insights.
In this specific role, you will be a thought leader and subject matter expert on the global solar supply chain team. You will lead market research and strategic analysis on manufacturing dynamics, pricing, technology shifts, trade policy, and competitive positioning. Your insights will influence investment decisions, government strategy, and commercial planning across the global solar industry. You will not only help companies achieve their strategic goals; you will also have a meaningful impact on the wider energy transition.

You will have access to proprietary datasets spanning the entire commodities value chain, including decades of proprietary research, in-house metals and mining teams and experts, eight trillion dollars of actual spend transactions between owners and suppliers and much, much more.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a global network of researchers, product developers, and clients to shape Wood Mackenzie’s solar supply chain research agenda and deliver best-in-class intelligence to the market.
Main Responsibilities
Own and maintain core datasets on solar manufacturing capacity, production, utilization, costs, pricing, and trade flows.
Conduct primary and secondary research, including direct engagement with manufacturers, developers, and policymakers.
Monitor, analyze, and forecast key trends in solar manufacturing, material sourcing, pricing, trade flows, tariffs, and geopolitical influences.
Build, improve, and operate solar supply chain models and contribute to cost/price forecasts.
Write and publish research reports, briefing notes, and client deliverables
Present findings to clients and stakeholders via webinars, workshops, and calls.
Contribute to thought leadership by identifying emerging trends and risks in solar supply chains.
Collaborate with global teams to integrate solar supply chain insights with wider power and renewables analysis.

Skills & Experience
Strong interest and knowledge of renewable energy, particularly solar technology and supply chains.
Experience related solar supply chain is preferred.
2-4 years of professional experience in research, consulting, energy, or supply chain-related fields.
Proven ability to analyze complex datasets and generate clear, actionable insights.
Strong Excel skills; familiarity with databases, SQL, or coding (Python, R) preferred.
AI enthusiast.
Strong writing and presentation skills, capable of producing client-ready research.
Experience interacting with clients or external stakeholders is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s in economics, engineering, international relations, international trade, renewable energy or related field is a plus.
A proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, and passion for driving the energy transition through strategic insights.
