QA Shift Leader

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Shift leader has overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the QA operation in his/her shift. The Shift leader is responsible for the safe and environmentally responsible operation of his/her shift, striving for continuous improvement to maximize efficiency, productivity and profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensure and assist in the HSE performance of the QA operations of the Zhuhai plant. Activities include but are not limited to leading the initiatives for the safe day-to-day operations of the laboratories; current programs include behavioral based safety contacts and observations (STEP), compliance with environmental regulations (waste tank inspections and logs), and Responsible Care initiatives. Other activities may include participation on Ad Hoc investigations, participation and membership on emergency response teams, oversight of corporate, plant, and procedural safety guidelines during shift operations, and helping to meet departmental safety metrics to support plant safety metrics.
2. Arrange routine work of his/her shift to meet or exceed the business objectives and support for the quality programs and services for the Zhuhai plant. Activities include but are not limited to supporting departmental objectives and metrics that align with the plant metrics and corporate vision, support for maintaining IMS (Integrated Management System) certification at the Zhuhai plant, strictly follow the requirement of quality systems and programs within the department, direct oversight of his/her shift personnel to ensure timely and accurate analysis to internal and external customers, and ensuring data integrity that is fed into various electronic systems necessary for running the business. Response and make the decision for the emergency during off time and weekend.
3. Support and lead employee growth and development in her/his shift to ensure the future needs of the Quality Assurance department are met and maintained. Activities include but are not limited to training and supporting the chemists and technicians to maintain and improve their skill sets, ensuring the competency of the chemists and technicians, utilization of the Performance and Career Management (PCM) process for supervision on an annual basis and to discuss career paths. Ensure annual and semi-annual personnel reviews are being complied with to confirm development and safety concerns are met for the non-exempt personnel. Other activities may include coaching and mentoring of shift personnel, supporting and ensuring compliance to corporate Legal and Ethical guidelines, as well as all other company, safety, environmental, and federal regulations as they apply to the quality assurance departments.
4. Support and maintain a good work environment / culture in the quality assurance function that will foster a safe, efficient, effective, high morale, and ethical workplace. Activities include but are not limited to promoting a sense of family and teamwork within the shifts, promoting and fostering diversity, ensuring that all employees of his/her shift are treated fairly and equitably, and that disciplinary actions on shift are administered with the consent of the department manager. The expected benefit of these activities will be an empowered work force that will maintain a non-union status for the Zhuhai plant.
5. Assist QA supervisor to improve and implement lean manufacturing in QA lab.
6. His/her shift schedule and OT, transportation arrangement.
