The Paralegal will be responsible for maintaining and updating the data protection regulations for the Chinese entities within the global data protection team and will serve as data protection officer in China. In addition the paralegal will support local lawyers by providing and participating in trainings, performing legal research and analysis, managing the contract processes from start to finish, confirm compliance with company policy and procedure and to otherwise assist regional legal counsels by performing a variety of support and administrative duties.
Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

Serve as data protection officer of the Chinese entities
Support local and functional management in data protection topics
Ensure compliance with local data protection laws
Assist with “Contract coordination" by being responsible for contract workflow from proposal stage through negotiation, execution and archiving of company contracts; engage in daily assessment steps in the contract intake tool; maintain contract database
Draft and review NDAs as well as terms and pricing amendments; review and negotiate template Statements of Work (SOWs) ensuring compliance with corporate policies, legal requirements, and risk mitigation strategies
Conduct data protection training for non-lawyers
Assist in training and education of commercial members of the organization as it relates to data protection topics and contract intake, administration, general knowledge, policy and procedure
Support the global data protection office and the legal affairs team, including gathering and organizing case files, preparing discovery responses, and managing deadlines
Coordinate, prepare and schedule meetings, national and international business trips, luncheons, draft agendas, and prepare reports
Upload, save, convert documents to server, database including but not limited to those relating to contracts
Draft correspondence / communications as needed
Prepare MS office documents
Other legal controlling.
Responsible for following all company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements, including Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
What will convince us
Paralegal certification from an accredited program is highly preferred, legal studies will be considered in lieu of the certification
Knowledge of data protection laws and ideally experience as data protection officer
Experience working as part of in-house legal team and reviewing NDAs and drafting contract amendments required
Broad knowledge of contract law and corporate law is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
High attention to detail and accuracy in work products
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Time management skills with the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to work on multiple projects with flexibility in balancing changing priorities
