Indirect Sourcing Category Lead

What will you work on?

The Direct Sourcing Lead plays a key role in supporting the efforts of the sourcing team for finished products ensuring Spin Master obtains the best combination of pricing, service and quality across all categories of products. Will be required to backup Global Direct Sourcing Manager for meetings and assignments.
Developing strong working relationships with our suppliers and internal stakeholders, both staff and management alike is key, as well as excellent leadership qualities to help lead the Direct Sourcing team.

How will you create impact?

• Leading the development execution of the local sourcing strategies that delivers a competitive advantage driving the strategic supplier initiatives. This includes supplier selection, development, and supplier consolidation to ensure sourcing optimization and overall supplier performance.
• Leading sourcing execution for assigned commodity(s) or suppliers, including full accountability for productivity.
• Lead the new supplier pre-qualification process in partnership with product development, QA and any other key stakeholder required for input.
• Performing detailed cost analysis of components manufacturing processes used by our suppliers to ensure highest quality at the lowest cost solution.
• Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance and developing improvement strategies to ensure business needs are met including supplier scorecards.
• Partnering with key business stakeholders to ensure sourced material and services meet the needs of the business.
• Driving improvements in sourcing processes including escalations due to delivery/quality issues, invoicing/payables issues, and database management.
• Drive sourcing strategic initiatives to ensure optimal cost productivity, fulfillment, and obsolescence/life-cycle management by leveraging standardization and latest industry practices.
• Building deep relationships with suppliers and driving early supplier engagement into PD (product development) process.
• Driving business productivity metrics affected by direct sourcing, ensuring accuracy, identifying new areas of opportunity to drive cost out, assist with implementing operating efficiency or improve productivity
• Affecting improvement in sourcing processes through digitization and simplification including management / employee communication, policy recommendations or management dashboards for individual spend controls.
• Backs up Direct Sourcing Manager when required
• Travel is required 10% - 20% internationally
• Any other assigned duties

What are your skills and experience?

• 5+ years of goods sourcing experience. Experience in sourcing finished goods products outside of NA would be considered an asset
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• PMAC an asset
• Experience with contract management and working knowledge of contract law would be an asset
• Direct exposure to the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is preferred
• Experience with sourcing corrugate, paper products and injection molded parts an asset
• Strong knowledge and experience of SAP and the Procure-to-Pay Process beneficial
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to demonstrate
