Job Purpose: To independently perform staff level accounting functions that deal with accounting issues of normal complexity to support business processes and provide further experience with Caterpillar accounting practices, and coordinate communications from Corporate to Business Cycle, Process and Control Owners including reporting initiatives and updates related to the Sarbanes – Oxley ACT and Fraud & Antibribery controls, as well as monitor its application through independent testing to ensure key controls are working effectively and as intended and the business is in compliance and aligned to corporate and local governance.
Job Duties:
From the outset, the Accountant I will be expected to be a contributing performer, performing financial/decision support accounting work that supports business processes. Additionally, this position will:
-develop an expanded understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures;
-apply accounting knowledge
-participate on and lead teams
This role will focus on general ledger local support, payment grief resolution, and process improvement project management.
Areas to support could include:
1) Financial accounting, including preparation of legal entity service charge, cost center management, monthly closing review, journal entries, reconciliations;
2) Coordinate with requestors and GBS for any outstanding bank items, cashflow forecast;
3) Work with various teams (purchasing, GBS and requestors) to solve any issues (grief, block, GNB, BNG) in the P2P process;
4) Coordinate for CRDC internal control management improvement, development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley control documentation and support auditing and lead action plans;
5) Support supervisor with any other tasks assigned(improvement process, digital transactions, etc).
The Accountant I will demonstrate knowledge and ability to independently handle accounting issues. They will demonstrate good communication skills and project management capabilities.
