The Sr. Advanced Chemical Engineer plays a key role in completing the transfer of UOP's technology in order to keep UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units operating safely & profitably. There is regular interaction with UOP's external customers and with UOP. The interaction with other UOP departments provides excellent exposure as well as providing knowledge of accountabilities in other areas. In addition to customer contact, the position provides interaction with all the UOP departments involved with technology delivery, e.g.; R&D, Sales/Sales Support, and Engineering.
- Provide technical support for UOP Aromatics & Derivatives technologies (approximately 30% time on Parex, Isomar, Tatoray, Sulfolane, and 70% time on Aromatic Derivatives technologies).
- Provide customer support to both external (licensee/operating companies, Engineering Procurement & Construction ('EPC') contractors) and internal (Field Services, CSO, R&D, Engineering, and Business groups); Regular interactions with external customers, and with other UOP personnel involved in technology delivery projects.
- Complete the technology transfer to our customers and ensure UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units operate optimally, profitably and safely.
- Participate in R&D technology improvement projects.
- Champion changes & improvements in technologies supported via innovation.
- Serve as the focal point for office-based support of new unit and revamped unit startups from pre-commissioning through guarantee acceptance.
- Participate in customer meetings
- Participate in Engineering review meetings for new units and revamps including Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, Plot Plans, HAZOP, Model Reviews, and others.
- Review, analyze and provide feedback on commercial unit operating data and other commercial information/experience.
- Providing Field support as part of the Field Service Reserve (FSR) when necessary for customers start-up, restart or troubleshooting either as the main Technical Advisor or as a training opportunity.
- Provide both office-based and on-site troubleshooting assistance to commercial units.
- Prepare and update general operating manuals, process technology manuals, and training materials and present UOP technology training courses both in the US and abroad.
- As opportunities arise, author invention disclosures for processes within your area of responsibility.
- Become Six Sigma Green Belt certified and apply tools and techniques to improvement projects.
- Help prepare material for and participate in, Technical Symposia and Sales Meetings.
- Bachelor in Chemical Engineering is required. Master in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
- 7+ yrs experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience with UOP Aromatics & Derivatives industry experience in process operations, technical service, or engineering design.
- Deep understanding and knowledge of at least one or more of the technologies listed above including their equipment and operations. Strong learning capabilities for new technologies.
- Demonstrates communication and interpersonal skills to manage the extensive internal and external customer contact that the position demands;

- Ability to conduct physical inspections requiring physical climbing and crawling through & walking on pressure vessels, distillation columns, tanks, and piping is required.
- The position requires significant travel (~50%) and associated personal flexibility. Some trips can be planned in advance, but the ability to travel at short notice is a requirement.
