Lead the HV battery project lead section, ensuring technical excellence and delivery of battery systems.
Support engineers in creating technical specifications for future HV battery generations, focusing on performance, safety, and integration.
Oversee and guide cross-functional project teams (internal & external) in China through the full battery development lifecycle.
Act as technical owner and main interface for imported HV batteries, including homologation coordination and compliance alignment.
Consolidate project status (timelines, deliverables, open issues) and report in steering committees and milestone reviews.
Ensure structured management of timelines, risks, lessons learned, and issue resolution across all assigned projects.
Maintain regular alignment with stakeholders in China and globally on HV battery topics, ensuring smooth communication and project flow.
Plan and monitor project budgets, control expenses, and support investment decision-making.
Concept Definition
Drive the local series-development activities at RD China to develop a HV Battery for an new energy vehicle to comply with local range regulations and standards in alignment with Daimler HQ development.
Supporting the creation of the HV battery specification and align with suppliers.
Define the project timeline during development phase with alignment with internal customer and suppliers.
Identify and evaluate internal and external partners for the development.
Leading the internal team to evaluate the concept from supplier under given timeline
HVB development steering (with corresponding PLEs)
Steering relevant suppliers and engineering service providers for the development
Leading regular communication between DAI project team and suppliers weekly.

Requirement specification management
Internal Coordination
Align the work scope and results at each relevant phase within RD China, BBAC RD and MBC/RD
Work together with cross-functional departments like product planning, quality and logistics, set up project milestones as well as coordinate activities to pursue tight time schedules.
Reporting & escalation
Prepare the necessary materials to report the status and findings during both concept phase & development phase to management in China and Germany.
Align and present the materials to all relevant parties
Task Management
- Monitoring status and progress of work and making day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from Supervisor as needed;
- Estimating and reporting on expected time of work completion and maintaining work records;
- Distributing and balancing workload among employees and assuring timely accomplishment and quality of work
People Supervision & Section Development
- Assisting Supervisor with daily people supervision tasks including but not limited to recruitment, attendance & leave management and LEAD Goal Agreement, Appraisal, and Feedback process;
- Providing necessary performance coaching and feedback to team members;
- Reporting to Supervisor on performance, progression and training needs of team members and on disciplinary issues
- Assisting Supervisor on Section Team DES follow-ups and team building topics
Training and Coaching to Team Members
- Instructing section members in tasks and job techniques and making available written instructions and reference materials
- Giving on the job training to new section member;
- Improving section know-how, answering questions of team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc.;
Education
University degree in automotive, electronics, mechanical design or electro-chemistry.
Experience
Working Experience 8+ years in Mercedes Benz RD or other OEM or HV battery supplier regarding project management of HV Battery development
Specific knowledge
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrochemistry, or related field.
- Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of HV battery system architecture, including cell, module, and pack design.
- Proven experience in battery system specification, integration, and validation.
- Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), thermal management, and safety concepts.
- Knowledge of homologation and regulatory compliance for automotive batteries (e.g. GB, ECE, UN38.3, IEC).
- Fluent in English; Chinese or German is a strong asset.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Communication skills with various hierarchy levels and different cultural background
