Background
The UNV Field Unit (FU) in China is accountable for external partner mobilization contributing to Full Funding (FF) and Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) and acts as the liaison in the country for the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY). The mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs .
The FU China, in its work related to External Relations, represents and positions UNV to its Chinese existing and prospective UN partners UN.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to Partnership building and management
- Support to establish, foster and maintain effective outreach and relationships for the expansion of Full Funding (FF) and Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) initiatives,
- Assist in collection of business intelligence related to partnerships, promotion of volunteerism and shaping and delivering volunteer infrastructure advisory services and support in country scans as input for corporate planning processes.
- Engage in information sharing and awareness raising about the UNV modalities and opportunities to prospective Chinese applicants.
- Support the development of FF agreements, Letter of Exchanges, annual workplan and annual reporting for the ongoing partnerships, support UNV’s engagement to the Assignment Preparation Traninings with FF partners.
- Assist on the implementation of FF with existing funding partners and as needed coordinate across UNV Sections (ROs, FUs, ERCS, VSS, HRS), to ensure agreed timelines and are met.
- Provide regular updates on the implementation process and status of the FF recruitments to partners and to ERCS.
- Contribute to the preparation of FF agreements and letters of exchange, and statistics on FF assignments as inputs for reports
- Support in the preparation of meetings and presentations and take minutes
- Support on incoming missions to China of UNV staff.
UN Volunteer mobilization and advocacy support
- Support in the development and submission, in the relevant system, of Descriptions of Assignments (DoAs) from UN partners forFF Volunteers
- Contribute to volunteer promotion activities, and provide inputs for the production of FF volunteers’ impact stories and other communications material.
- Support the Regional Talent Acquisition Analyst with targeted outreach to attract the right talent for Chinese FF assignments and into the UNV global talent pool;
- Assist in the handling of requests from FF UN Volunteers and ensure that related issues requiring action are brought to the attention of the supervisor.
- Document frequently asked questions in the form of FAQs and keep them up to date.
- Perform any other related duties as requested by the direct supervisor.
Institutional Arrangement
Under the direct supervision of the UNV Programme and Partnerships Specialist in China, the Partnerships Development - Associate supports UNV’s work to maintain and expand partnerships in China, and supports the efforts of advocacy and positioning of UNV value in the country, in line with UNV’s Strategic Framework, in close coordination with the External Relations and Communications Section (ERCS) team in Bonn, and other UNV organizational units, with a strong focus on the Full Funding programme and the Special Voluntary Fund in China.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary education is required.
- University Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Public or Business Administration will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years (with High school diploma) or 3 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant working experience in partnerships and resource mobilization, with at least one year with an international organization
Required skills
- Knowledge of multi-stakeholder partnership building
- Experience in working with donors
- Experience in project and/or project administration
- Experience in the use of MS package(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Desired skills
- Experience working with Volunteer programmes desirable
- Field experience is an asset.
- Web-based management systems such as ERP and social media am asset.
- Work experience with United Nations organizations is an asset

- Fluency in Chinese and English is required
