Job Description:
Packaging designers are responsible for creating innovative and functional packaging solutions for our products. This includes dimensioning, designing, and creating die drawings that meet aesthetic and functional requirements. Packaging designers will work with product development, marketing and production teams to ensure that packaging meets brand standards and market needs.
Main responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Create a packaging design that is visually appealing and in line with the brand's aesthetic.
- Develop tooling drawings and specifications for packaging materials.
- Ensure that the packaging design is functional and protects the product during transportation and storage.
- Use design tools to create detailed packaging prototypes and models.
- Size measurement:
- Accurately measure product dimensions and create perfectly fitted packaging.
- Ensure cost effective packaging by optimizing material use.
- Tests are carried out to ensure that packaging meets size and weight limits for shipping and handling.
- Material selection:
- Choose the right packaging materials based on factors such as durability, sustainability and cost.
- Work with suppliers to procure high quality materials that meet design specifications.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure package design complies with industry standards and regulations.
- Learn about the latest packaging trends and innovations and incorporate them into your design work.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure that packaging meets company standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the product development team to understand packaging requirements for new products.
- Work with the marketing team to ensure that the packaging design supports the promotion strategy and brand messaging.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure design can be manufactured efficiently.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple packaging design projects simultaneously to ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain detailed records of design iterations, material specifications, and test results.
- Provide stakeholders with regular updates on project status and milestones.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in packaging design, industrial design, graphic design or related field.
- At least 3-5 years experience in packaging design, consumer goods industry preferred.
- Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
- Deep understanding of packaging materials, production processes and manufacturing constraints.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to create accurate tooling drawings and specifications.
- Strong project management skills, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Understand industry standards and regulations related to packaging.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in party goods or consumer packaging design.
- Familiar with sustainable packaging practices and materials.
- Ability to perform packaging durability and functional testing.
