Overview: A Mechanical Design Verification Engineer (MDVE) uses their engineering knowledge and creativity to measure and test MR product mechanical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - some of which have never been tested in consumer electronics. Using engineering fundamentals, measurement knowledge and hands-on prototyping skills, they’ll work to verify designs, communicate results and collaborate on design solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop a deep understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be tested by collaborating across different disciplines and technology teams. Examples include mechanical stability and dynamic deflections of critical components, positioning of optical sensors, and interaction parameters of user controls.
- Design and execute test plans for these KPIs.
- Work with internal fabrication and prototyping teams to build test equipment and fixtures in our labs.
- Report results to cross-functional teams and work with design teams to improve product performance.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and application.
- Experience with engineering measurement devices and verification concepts.
- Displays attributes of a critical thinker and a focus on practical results.
- Demonstrated verbal and written English & Chinese communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and engineering design ability.
- Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Strong ability to read and interpret 2D drawings with GD&T, technical manuals and component specifications.
- Practical experience with computer applications and engineering software, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Demonstrated ability in 3D CAD design of original parts and assemblies preferred.
- Experience with Siemens NX preferred.
- Experience with statistical analysis and designed experiments preferred.
- Experience in consumer electronics or related fields preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.
- Good oral and written English communication skills.
