Job Description & Requirements
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of hydraulic excavator products, focusing primarily on the mechanical design of structural components. This role is integral to our product development team, overseeing structural design from initial concepts to detailed engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the mechanical and component design process, from conceptualization to detailed solutions.
• Create high-quality 3D models based on concept designs.
• Collaborate closely with the virtual analysis team; improve designs according to FEA results to meet all functional requirements.
• Select geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Understand cost structures of components and take responsibility for cost-reduction design initiatives.
• Produce detailed 2D drawings in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain technical documents within the PLM system on a regular basis.
• Strictly adhere to all product development processes.
• Assist internal clients in resolving PLM system-related issues.
• Review and check drawings as requested by the product department.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Design or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing processes of relevant components, including sheet metal and welded structures.
• Proficient in sheet metal design, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing.
• Skilled in using PLM systems.
• Proficient in industry-standard 3D modeling and analysis software.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
• Fluent in Japanese, with spoken Japanese sufficient for workplace communication (N2 or above preferred).
• Self-motivated, able to manage projects independently and ensure project objectives are achieved.
This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
