Develop, implement and manage the day to day Instrument and Control (I&C) engineering activities associated with both capital projects and plant support for the Company in AP Region. This role involves all aspects of instrumentation and control engineering management with supporting from E&I leaders of Global Engineering Leadership Team, support project lead and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Project Management & Coordination:
- Act as the owner’s I&C representative, overseeing the design, procurement, and construction (EPC) of instrumentation, automation, and process control systems in Capex projects.
- Participate in full project lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with process requirements, safety standards (e.g., GB, IEC, etc.), related industry regulations and company's specifications.
- Coordinate with plant, owner of other discipline leaders, design institutes, suppliers and construction contractors as well as other related 3rd parties (if necessary) to resolve technical problems and ensure on-time project delivery with expected quality.
Technical Review & Design Optimization:
- Support design institute to set-up process control architecture.
- Review key I&C documents from design institute such as Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, P&IDs, Cause & Effect Diagrams, logic diagram, and DCS/PLC/SIS system specifications, etc.
- Support PHA facilitator for HAZOP/SIL assessments to ensure Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) meet functional safety standards (IEC 61511 and GB equivalent codes).
- Optimize control strategies (e.g., PID parameter tuning, interlock logic) to enhance process efficiency and stability.
Procurement Support, and Construction Supervision and handover:
- Participate in vendor selection and verification, technical bid evaluation and approval, contract negotiation, vendor print review, DCS/PLC/SIS system configuration support, and Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) for instrumentation and control systems.
- Review construction scheme, supervise field installation, pre-commissioning, and loop testing to ensure installation meet quality control requirement.
- Ensure all instrument supply and installation compliance with explosion-proof (Ex) and IP protection requirements.
- Develop and manage punch item process and support facilities handover to operation.
- Support vendor's training to operation and maintenance.
Commissioning & Start-up Support:
- Support operation for DCS/PLC/SIS system commissioning, instrument calibration, PSSR, plant startup, and performance testing, etc.
- Prepare or collect project closeout documentation (e.g., as-built, operation &maintenance manuals, etc.) and handover to operations
Plant Support:
- Support plant for DCS/PLC/SIS system maintenance and upgrading.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Automation, Instrumentation, Process Control, or related fields.
- Over 10 years in instrumentation and control engineering within chemical industries.
- Owner or EPC project management experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with chemical processes (e.g., reaction, separation, heat transfer) and control schemes (e.g., cascade, split range control, feedforward control, etc.).
- Besides I&C, electrical discipline's engineering experience will be also prefer.
- Proficient in mainstream control systems (e.g., DCS, PLC, SIS), capable of programming is prefer.
- I&C's Professional certifications, such as CFSE/CFSP is prefer.
