Position Summary
- This position will support the Head of External Affairs in developing forward-looking government affairs strategies that align with Straumann's business objectives and policy priorities; cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, industry associations, media and influential regional/local think tanks to bolster Straumann's brand, reputation and establishment as an industry thought leader; facilitate engagement between Straumann's senior executives and regulatory leaders to address key policy issues and advance key business priorities.
Major responsibilities
- Maintain a positive relationship with the government, public services, industry associations and other authorities in the assigned provinces/municipalities to promote Straumann's business interests;
- Liaise with government counterparts at the municipal, district and industrial park levels as required to ensure the efficient operation of SICN and SMCN in Shanghai;
- Monitor, analyze and interpret China's macro political and economic landscape, policies, regulations and legislation that may impact Straumann's business and reputation in China;
- Develop and maintain relationships with key media agencies and lead the implementation of the media plan to shape a positive corporate image in China;
- Identify risks or challenges that may arise from China's macro environment and geopolitical dynamics, provide insights to internal stakeholders on scenario-based crisis management strategies;
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and coordinated efforts by leveraging expertise and perspectives from different parts of the company;
- Complete tasks as assigned by the team leader.
Required Qualification
- At least 5-8 years of work experience in government affairs in multinational companies (work experience in government agencies or public sector is preferred);
- Good knowledge of Chinese government/political system and deep understanding of China's healthcare policy and metech industry;
- High sensitivity to industrial policy and strong understanding of government engagement and advocacy;
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated by proposals and presentations of high quality and persuasiveness;
- Team player: independent yet interdependent;
- A self-starter with strong discipline, a positive and enthusiastic attitude, high ethical standards, and a proven track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment;
- Willingness to expand scope of work as needed and be a lifelong learner.
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- Education in Business Administration, Public Health, Social Medicine and Health Management
- MNC work experience is preferred
