With IKEA Supply AG, located in Switzerland, as its parent company, IKEA Supply China consists of 6 regional wholesale trading companies including IKEA Supply China Co., Ltd., IKEA Food Supply China Co., Ltd., and IKEA Supply (Foshan) Co., Ltd. etc., responsible for different areas and categories. In the IKEA value chain, ISCN is in charge of IKEA wholesale business of the Asia-Pacific region. At present, there are around 140 co-workers within ISCN, located in cities including Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Nantong, Foshan and Dongguan.

The objectives of Customs Compliance and Operations are:
- To secure import and export processes anchored with excellence in operations and a culture of compliance that supports strategic goals within the global customs organization and aligned with IKEA vision, strategies and directives.
- To develop and secure strategic partnerships internally and externally that drive change, secure compliance and support operational excellence that support the business goals.
- To be the trusted resource within the assigned region making Customs and Trade compliance accessible to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively share information with key stakeholders and provide reliable and timely responses that support the customs operations.
Compliance means to secure all declarations are accurate and complete and made in compliance with local requirements and regulations as well as with internal controls. It includes partnering with key stakeholders to secure all cross-border shipments can be imported or exported compliantly.

How the job contributes to the purpose of the function
As assigned by IKEA Supply AG (ISAG) or an ISAG Wholesale subsidiary facilitate the day-to-day activities necessary to secure all import and export documentation and certificates necessary for compliant, accurate, and complete declaration processes. Ensure the efficient and timely receipt, review, registration and record retention of all required import and export documents for all countries in assigned geographical area.
Job specific key tasks and responsibilities
- Secure efficient and timely handling of incoming documents and certificates required for import and export declaration processes. Covers all customs declaration systems used and manually processed countries.
- Secure customs relevant documents are available on time to secure timely release of imports and exports.
- Secure documents are properly and timely registered and filed/archived according to import and export requirements of countries assigned in the region and the company. This includes issuance, registration, and maintenance of certificates of origin, free trade agreement (FTA) documents, exporter certificates, licenses, attestations, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare declaration documentation package and validate data to be used in customs declaration per working instructions.
- Proactively identify missing documents and certificates prior to shipment arrival and declaration filing. Secure missing documents and certificates or proactively administer the claims process with suppliers when certificates cannot be obtained.
- Proactively investigate and analyse errors related to documentation and certificate handling and registration. Secure resolution where compliance or operational standards are not met.
- Archive and file documents in accordance with approved record retention protocols and procedures for countries assigned in the geographical area. As the preferred method of record keeping and archiving is electronic, scanning will be required.
- Contribute to constant awareness of the customs operational processes concerning documents and certificate requirements. Use awareness to make recommendations for process improvements to manager.
- Secure and maintain competence regarding documentation and certificate requirements as well as systems used within the Customs organization for customs and trade compliance for the countries assigned in the geographical area.
