We are looking for technically excellent Construction lawyers who are enthusiastic about construction law and interested in an international practice to join our Construction Advisory & Disputes team based in Beijing and Shanghai. The ideal candidate would possess:
Main duties and responsibilities
- Advising clients on issues arising from live projects as well as formal dispute resolution including arbitration, court, mediation and adjudication.
- Strategic case management and negotiating the settlement of claims.
- Liaising with various stakeholders including clients, experts, witnesses, external counsel etc.
- Preparing witness statements and other court documentation.
- Develop relationships with clients including gaining a good knowledge of the client’s businesses, economic drivers, market, and sector requirements in order to ensure advice is relevant and commercial.
- Work as part of a team, encouraging people to achieve the highest technical and professional standards, and taking an active part in sharing knowledge and experience with the team.
- Manage matters to ensure fee budgets are not exceeded or that clients are managed if fees are exceeded, keeping Partners and clients updated as required.
- Promote cross-practice collaboration within the team and encourage the team to work in a way that promotes a seamless approach to managing client relationships.
- Develop a network within the firm and with clients, proactively seeking out internal and external marketing opportunities and sharing them with the team.
- Be a collegiate and supportive member of the CAD team and Pinsent Masons, contributing to firm strategy, business planning and resourcing discussions and activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- 7 PQE+ ideally already operating at Senior Associate level.
- Solid legal foundation with international experience in construction law, including but not limited to contract review and drafting, claims and negotiation.
- Technical excellence but, equally important, being commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development.
- Great work attitude, a strong client-focused approach, and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to the team internally and to clients externally.
- PRC and foreign legal qualifications (highly preferred).
- Law degree from a top law school in the PRC and internationally.
