America Steel Trade Corporation is an international trading company headquartered in North Miami, Florida. AST specializes in sourcing, exporting, and distributing commodities to the North, Central and South America.
We are seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist with extensive experience in the steel industry to manage supplier relationships, oversee procurement operations, and drive strategic sourcing. This role requires strong supplier engagement skills, negotiation expertise, and market intelligence, particularly within China’s steel sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with steel mills, traders, and suppliers to ensure a competitive market position.
- Engage suppliers through calls, emails, meetings, and visits, ensuring regular communication and partnership development.
- Visit suppliers regularly and attend industry conferences and trade fairs to expand the supplier network and stay updated on market trends.
- Negotiate contracts and terms to optimize cost savings, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Evaluate supplier performance through data-driven analysis and implement improvements where necessary.
- Assist in order processing, purchasing contracts, and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Support the approval process for procurement orders, working closely with the Director and management team.
- Ensure efficient and timely submission of RFQs and bids, meeting response rate targets.
- Drive the adoption of procurement platforms and digital tools, ensuring seamless offer submissions.
- Conduct statistical studies and market trend analysis to inform sourcing strategies and supplier selection.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers, expanding the company’s sourcing capabilities.
- Conduct regular supplier assessments and risk evaluations, ensuring compliance and reliability.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry developments to drive informed procurement decisions.
- Recommend cost-saving strategies and process optimizations to improve efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications & Requirements
✅ Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the steel industry, including steel mills, traders, and China market.
✅ Strong network of steel suppliers and manufacturers, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
✅ Expertise in supplier negotiations, contract management, and strategic sourcing.
✅ Familiarity with procurement platforms, CRM tools, and market intelligence tools.
✅ Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
✅ Willingness to travel at least 3 days per month for supplier visits and industry events.
✅ Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with strict KPIs.
