As a Senior Narrative Editor, TCG Game at Riot, you’ll work directly with the TCG design and narrative teams to create consistent, high-quality content for our players. You’ll be responsible for your deliverables, both in terms of direction/alignment and scheduling, and also ensuring that they meet the overall discipline quality bar and specific product needs. You’ll lean on years of experience to help build world-class rules documents, card templating, flavor text, and names. You’ll use your craft expertise to enrich the players’ experience of the gameplay and lore of the League of Legends TCG.

As a Senior Narrative Editor on the Riftbound team, you will work closely with card designers and narrative designers to improve the gameplay experience through the lens of content: cards. You will work closely with other team Product Leads and creatives to stay aligned on vision and priorities and balance the requirements of clarity to players and functionality within rules. You will write and revise rules documents to support new gameplay and maintain standards for rules, templating, and creative elements. You will proactively seek opportunities for collaboration, and quickly mediate and resolve any disagreements or misalignments related to card function or creative direction. You will also work closely with the team to strengthen our workflow, preventing opportunities for errors and mistakes.

To reinforce Riot’s collaborative culture in our China offices, we’ve decided to do away with the constraints of traditional hierarchical title structures that are more common in the region. Titles don’t really matter at any of Riot’s offices, but we chose to take this extra step in our China offices to foster a space where teamwork thrives. We believe that removing this constraint will promote individual autonomy, ownership, collaboration, and a focus on results. We promise you won’t need a title at Riot to make an impact.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the relevant audiences for the game, and from this, calibrate your design expertise to reflect appropriate taste for these audiences
• Implement card content and rules from source language (English), and build robust localization methodology for long-term content update
• Design onboarding experience for new TCG players that provide intuitive learning and keep integrity to the core game rules
• Take ultimate responsibility for the handoff of error-free card text and rule materials
• Maintain good working relationships with product teams, stakeholders, and Localization partners, and actively drive improvements to Riot Games’ multi-language publishing processes
• Assist in the ongoing development of process documentation, rules documents, templating standards, and style guides

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional editing experience, including experience working on games, or equivalent advanced degree with strong practical experience
• At least 3 years of experience in game content design or editing within a game development team, preferably on live or competitive game products
• Proven ability to own systems or content pipelines independently from concept to delivery
• Bilingual communication skills (English and Chinese), with demonstrated experience in writing or editing game-facing materials
• Deep understanding and familiarity with Trading Card Games (TCGs)
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work through cross-disciplinary collaboration, including resolving creative misalignments and driving consensus across narrative, design, and product teams
• Experience managing or contributing to multi-language content workflows, including shaping localization standards, terminology consistency, and long-term content scalability
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and evolve living documentation, including style guides, rule templates, and workflow standards that support team-wide consistency and scalability.

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated contribution to the creation or evolution of editorial standards, content pipelines, or localization strategies
• Familiarity with the League of Legends IP and its narrative/world systems
• Experience editing rule-heavy or competitive game content, such as TCGs or strategy games
• Experience building onboarding experiences for new players or writing game documentation at a system level

• 具备 5 年及以上的专业编辑经验（包含游戏相关内容），或具备等效经验的高级学位（如博士）
• 至少 3 年游戏开发团队内的内容设计或编辑经验，曾参与实时运营或竞技类游戏更佳
