Senior Java Developer
We are looking for new team members to join in improving our backend services and accelerating the development of new features for Signals Notebook. As a Java developer, you will join our Signals Notebook development team in Shanghai and work closely with the global R&D team to iteratively deliver new product capabilities.
Signals Notebook is a powerful cloud-native Electronic Laboratory Notebook for multidisciplinary collaboration and scientifically intelligent data management. It has been widely adopted by leading pharmaceutical companies to plan experiments, record data, enable collaboration, and search data for their new drug R&D process. Customers can also leverage other products in our Signals Research platform to analyze their data.
We are the developers of ChemDraw, the industry-standard chemical drawing software. Over the past 30 years, ChemDraw and our traditional desktop E-Notebook products have accumulated a huge customer base. Born from excellent genes, our cloud-native product Signals Notebook has passed SOC 3 Type 2 audits and ISO27001 certification for consecutive years through the joint efforts of our global team. You have the opportunity to join such an outstanding team to build such an excellent product.
Desired qualifications:
- Good communication skills in English and Chinese
- Excellent ability for continuous learning
- Solid coding foundations and good coding style
- 3+ years experience in Java web service development, 5-8 years preferred
- Familiar with microservice architecture, real product development experience preferred
- Background in biology or chemistry preferred
In this role, you will:
- Work with Signals Notebook’s global teams under the Scrum framework. Improve your understanding of Scrum/Agile and English communication skills. Access technical sharing and knowledge sharing from global team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to deliver new features, refine existing functions, and fix product defects
- Demonstrate new product features to stakeholders during review meetings
- Explore possibilities of applying new technologies in our product with global R&D teams
You will expand the following knowledge:
- Popular backend technologies, frameworks and tools such as Java 21, Vert.x, Redis, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Node.js, Docker, AWS, etc.
- Development processes, automated building & deployment, application performance monitoring, log analysis, online issue diagnosis and resolution, performance optimization under high concurrency scenarios, etc. for large web applications
- Domain knowledge in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical R&D
- Development and maintenance of web applications based on AWS
Having relevant knowledge will help you get this job and accelerate your onboarding. Lacking some knowledge will not affect your short-term work.
