The opportunity
Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services. Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact
1. You will l ead a team of engineers to successfully execute R&D projects within the allocated budget, timeframe, and scope.
2. You will o versee the professional development and management of team members and will o ffer technical advice and project execution support to R&D team members throughout the duration of the projects.
3. You will engage in continuous discussions with local planning, production, and laboratory teams to ensure timely execution of prototypes and will monitor and control project costs, providing monthly reports and p roactively anticipate and address cost deviations.
4. You will ensure prompt and regular reporting on project status, taking proactive measures in case of deviations from the agreed baseline and will foster a culture of challenging existing technologies, leveraging innovative thinking, and contributing to idea generation for product roadmap.
5. You will ensure adherence to intellectual property regulations and take appropriate actions and will maintain the highest HSE standards in all team activities, including conducting risk evaluations during the manufacturing and testing of R&D prototypes.
6. You will be w orking directly with other R&D teams, Hitachi Research Centers, receiving factories, and engineering teams worldwide and actively participate in R&D projects, providing technical expertise as a team member.
7. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
1. You will hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field, such as industrial, electrical, mechanical or similar.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D activities or engineering within the transformers industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of the design, manufacturing, and testing of dry-type transformers.
4. Familiarity with R&D project management practices and processes, working in a structured manner using relevant methods, procedures, and tools.
5. Proven experience in leading large-scale projects is advantageous and exhibits creativity and "out-of-the-box" thinking, with great attention to detail and a proactive approach to challenging existing methodologies.
6. Strong character, determined, result-oriented, and open- minded. Demonstrates a deep sense of ownership in achieving assigned targets.
7. Skilled at managing diverse people, with the ability to coach, motivate, and inspire others.
8. G ood communication skills in both English and Spanish.
