We're now looking for a Principal Analyst to join our Consumer team.This individual will work in an experienced global team that specializes in the smartphone industry landscape, with a specific focus on the vendor's go-to-market strategy. In this role, the individual will be part of the global team to deliver our research deliverables and insights, ranging from our core smartphone data products to key technology forecasts and insight reports, regional go-to-market and vendor insights. The individual will support an established research program, but also play an integral role in further evolving the offering, assisting in sales and marketing activities to drive client acquisition, as well as driving and executing the overall research agenda.
Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
· Support the annual research agenda for the smartphone research program.
· Conduct on-going primary research, including contacting companies for briefings to develop an understanding of their go-to-market strategies.
· Write short reports, blogs and develop presentations on trends pertaining to the smartphone industry and ecosystem.
· Connect with vendor analyst relations teams to ensure inclusion in briefings, events, and media releases.
· Support sales and marketing activities to get new clients to subscribe to the research program.
· Respond to client requests, working with account managers to ensure research needs are met.
· Lead in client engagements, demonstrating a depth of knowledge in smartphone industry and vendor GTM strategies.
· Be available to attend briefings, meetings, trade shows and conferences across the region; foreign travel likely.

What makes a good candidate?
We are looking for someone with the following attributes:
· They are keen to further develop their expertise and build their reputation as an expert in this field. They are self-disciplined to meet deadlines and operate with minimal supervision. They are hungry and ambitious and want to see this research program continue to be a successful product for Omdia.
· They know how to work with data, but also understand that insights come from expertise derived from primary research from conversations with their network. They are very focused on developing and fostering their network of contacts throughout China and outside China.
· They are interested in technology and want to stay at the cutting edge. They are excited to learn more about different parts of the technology industry and to use their insights to guide industry executives.
· They have an opinion on the subject and are happy to share it. They possess a business acumen to ascertain the relationships between products and strategy and overall business performance.
· They are keen to promote their insights to clients and the wider industry. They understand that good communication comes in a variety of mediums including reports, blogs, presentations, webinars and conversations. Through these different means, they will ensure they effectively communicate their analysis to key stakeholders.
· They work in a global virtual team so must be able to forge relationships over video. They are disciplined to work with minimal supervision when executing their primary objectives.
What is required of a candidate?
- In-depth knowledge of research methodologies and ability to deliver high-quality, impactful research content, with a focus on a strong data foundation
- Between 5 and 10 years of professional experience. Experience in the fields of market research, consulting, channel vendors, or a relevant role within a technology company preferred. Experience in the Chinese smartphone industry and prior experience supporting Chinese vendors is highly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Strong writing acumen. Strong speaker/presenter in both Chinese and English.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Cultural awareness as the role involves working within a global virtual team environment.
