Job Title : Ocean Freight Manager (Asia)
Job Duties:
- Oversee the management of ocean operations for the region
- Negotiate prices of cargo containers, allocation of volumes with shipping lines and transit routes in Asia
- Assist traders with competitive ocean freight rates for the acquisition of cargo from various origins
- Coordinate with the commercial team the planning of volume allocation monthly/quarterly by destination
· Communicate monthly ocean freight rates to the commercial team for its planning · Negotiate delays and incorrect charges with shipping lines
- Provide forecasts to the commercial team every two weeks in the cargo industry and containers
- Review shipping documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and federal regulations
- Find ways to improve processes, maximize performance and reduce costs
- Coordinate internally with different departments to understand financial, credit and compliance requirements related to the incorporation of new entities
- Manage shipping assignments with local and international logistics teams
- Develop and manage relationships with key customers and service providers to ensure the effective execution of commercial operations with containers
- Establish relationships with shipping lines and partners to develop new business opportunities
- Ensure requirements on space, service and price are clearly communicated to each carrier
- Provide local market feedback on carriers to the Director of Global Operations
- Have a thorough understanding of local market pricing conditions
- Participate in the weekly sales/operations meeting
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years’ relevant experience (freight forwarder or shipping line preferred)
- Knowledge of ocean freight
- Strong negotiation skills
- Dynamic interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness and ability to work independently;
- be a self-starter
- Capacity to work under time-sensitive business and reporting deadlines
