Job Responsibilities:
Lead the development of Machine Platform MGPP’s based upon CAT product Strategy, VOC, VOB, and Functional Requirements information, with DFOS fully integrated and executed.
Lead the MWL GC NPI Quality Strategy Playbook execution and yearly update.
Lead the Engineering Team in the activities of concept, design, analysis, prototype and pilot builds, production release and ramp-up following the framework of the MWL NPI Process.
Support creation of Product Support and Marketing materials.
Responsible for ensuring the Machine 2D drawings (specs, IPV test requirements, decals) are released and maintained in the engineering data system.
It is the responsibility of the Product Leader to drive the team to meet deadlines and raise the roadblocks and critical paths to the Supervisors. Team projects and resources will be managed via Project Management. Product Leader must lead and own the early and detailed project plan development prior to the engagement of NPI Project Planner.
Supported by Configuration Engineer, lead the overall execution and planning of PD builds.
Drive the team to support and personally support Pilot builds.
Ensure IPV/PDI/PDA & Quality information & processes are documented and completed prior to pilot & production machines are produced. This includes schematics & chart drawings of machine performance and generic information.
Maintain cost roll-up estimates for current product and NPI platform configurations.
Understand/review program financials related to NPI.
Product Leader is the leader for their machine platform. As such, they will maintain summary data on each model with current cost, reliability, performance and regulations status & key projects being worked to address issues.
First and foremost, the Product Leader leads through Initiative, teamwork, and high work standards for self and the team members. He/she is the driving force to CAT product development and maintenance.
6 Sigma tools and methodologies will be used to help identify opportunities, and make fact-based decisions.
Provide technical guidance within and between departments and other System Teams.
Identify potential cost reduction ideas which can be further evaluated / analyzed for production feasibility by a broader Team.
Provide weekly highlights to management in the correct format, in a timely manner.
Timely and appropriate support of field and workshop issues.
Frequent auditing of current production machines under designated design control on the assembly line. This responsibility extends to the system teams.
Evaluate competitor’s machines. Remain knowledgeable about new products and manufacturing & assembly processes.
Ensure machine and system FMEA’s will be performed / reviewed in a timely manner.
Support service parts requirements in CAT system and service growth activities.

This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
