The role - What are the main tasksand responsibilities of this job?
- Help with the design of the mechanical systems associated with theirproject(s)
- Responsible for the function and safety of the mechanical systemsassociated with their project(s)
- Critically review mechanical systemdesigns
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with various people across theEpiroc Organisation, Customers and other stakeholders to achieve projectgoals
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes
- Prepare technical documentation:
- Part drawings, FEA reports, Various types of design reports, FMEAAnalysis', ISO, CSA and other industry standards, etc
- Identify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization
- Plan for and execute testing and commissioning of the systems createdas part of assigned projects
- Work alongside others for the integration of various systems, ensuringcompatibility, efficiency, safety and reliability across the entire system
- Maintaining assigned project's CAD and PLM data
- Creation of technical drawings and reports
Competences, skills andexperience - What criticalcompetences, skills and experienceis required for a candidate to besuccessful in this position?
- Engineering degree, diploma, or similar
- Baseline understanding of programming logic and how it controlsmechatronic systems
- In-depth understanding of standard and prototypingmanufacturing processes including, casting, forging, welding, milling,lathing, cutting (various types), bending, 3D printing
- In-depth understanding of Mechanical engineering principles
- In-depth knowledge of integrating battery systems, electric drivetrains,power electronics, thermal management and other components to createa fully functional vehicle. Integration involves the physical placement andconnection of components and ensuring compatibility, efficiency, safetyand reliability across the entire system
- Baseline knowledge of various communication protocols such as CANand Ethernet
- Baseline understanding of various types of sensors, actuators and theirrespective control requirements
- Knowledge of, and experience with industry standards
- Proficient in 3D modelling, CAD best practices, and large assemblymanagement
