Day-to-day technology operations support at China datacenter Project in Shanghai. The data center was put into production in Mar 2024.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including working knowledge of a physical IT infrastructure (server, networking, storage, asset inventory, facilities monitoring, hardware secure decommissioning and incident handling), hands on experience with hardware move/add/change in a datacenter environment.
Scope and Working Hours:
§ Technology operations: (Full production data center)
- Knowledge of data center industry and computer room operations.
- Skills in communication and management with data center suppliers based on signed service-level- agreements.
- Deliver physical racking, stacking, patching and IT projects.
- Supervise 3rd party vendor construction works.
- Regularly review, file and archive IT infrastructure related operational documentation on shared folder and air drives (i.e., inventory sheet, asset list, life cycle management and logistical records).
- Install and configure hardware, troubleshoot hardware and network issues
- Maintain change control processes in the datacenter, and support 3rd party vendor activities.
- Responsible for managing incoming and outgoing goods, as well as overseeing inventory operations while maintaining clean and organized storerooms to support business functions.
- Prepare assets for production installation, including unboxing, tagging, and assembling components.
- Promptly report and escalate any damages to incoming shipments.
- Remove IT hardware from production for storage or disposal as per company policy.
- Ensure secure disposal of decommissioned hardware, including data-bearing devices.
- Adhere to security protocols for storing and securing data center assets.
- Responsible for liaising with the ICT Team Lead to ensure delivery of the requests is within the expected timescales.
- Experience with ITIL control processes is preferable.
- Available for standby emergency on-call services and remote handling.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
§ Working hours:
- Standard office hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm.
- May work in non-office hours, subject to business needs.
- Non-office hours and weekends will be on-call basis. Staff will need to respond to emergency calls as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or above. 1-2 of experience in computer science, information systems management, data center operation, business management or a related field.
- Accredited training in the installation of copper and fiber structured cabling systems, preferred. Previous experience of using Remedy, DCIM tools and BMS systems.
- Work experience at banks/financial institutions or MNCs preferred but not mandatory.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Bilingual in Mandarin and English.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
- Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
