Overview:
We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Application Architect with exceptional technical craftsmanship and a passion for elegant, scalable solutions. This role requires the incumbent to combine technical expertise with an aesthetic sensibility for designing systems, which are not only functional but also intuitive and maintainable. You will define standards, drive technical excellence, and champion innovation across our engineering teams.
Background and Responsibilities:
Cost-Optimized Design & Implementation:
Architect cloud-native infrastructure solutions (GCP) with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and resilience.
Enforce clean, intuitive naming conventions, patterns, and documentation to ensure system clarity.
Deliver elegant, maintainable code and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Design systems with "cost as a non-functional requirement," optimizing trade-offs between performance, availability, and expenditure.
Standardization & Governance & Security:
Establish and evangelize best practices, design principles, and governance frameworks for cloud infrastructure.
Create reusable templates, tools, and automation to accelerate development workflows.
Define security-by-design patterns for IAM, network isolation, data encryption (at rest/in transit), and secrets management.
Integrate compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, GDPR) into infrastructure blueprints and automate policy enforcement (e.g., Open Policy Agent).
Conduct threat modeling for critical services and implement proactive controls (e.g., zero-trust networking, runtime vulnerability scanning).
Innovation with AI:
Identify opportunities to integrate AI/ML technologies (e.g., predictive scaling, anomaly detection, self-healing systems) into platform capabilities.
Experiment with AI-driven tooling to optimize infrastructure operations and developer productivity.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Mentor engineers on architectural rigor, code quality, and operational excellence.
Partner with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure strategy with product goals.
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Expertise in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK), containerization (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native observability (OpenTelemetry).
Obsession with clean abstractions, modular design, and eliminating technical debt.
Proven ability to define standards and drive adoption across engineering teams.
Strong communication skills to articulate technical trade-offs and influence decisions.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience prototyping AI/ML solutions for infrastructure optimization.
Contributions to open-source projects or public speaking on technical topics.
Familiarity with FinOps, SRE practices, or platform engineering trends.
Experience to lead the design and operation of multi-cluster and large-scale cluster(1000+ nodes) Kubernetes strategies, including federation, cluster mesh networking, and centralized management.
Experience to develop Kubernetes operators and add-ons to automate cluster and application lifecycle management.
