Overview of the role
The Consulting division provides custom research solutions that help clients achieve specific goals and objectives across a wide range of country markets and industries making for a fast-growing, dynamic, and challenging working environment. We are currently expanding our research capabilities in China to address growing demand for market intelligence both from our local and international clients. We are now recruiting for the position of Associate Consultant.
Key responsibilities
The Associate Consultant role is central to the running and further growth of Euromonitor’s ad hoc research capacity. Associate Consultants/Consultants must be self-starting, autonomous individuals willing and able to take on full personal responsibility for delivering projects to full client satisfaction.
The primary function of the Associate Consultant/Consultant role is to successfully execute the strategic objectives of Euromonitor Custom research clients. The Associate Consultant/Consultant position reports, on a line-management basis, to a Consulting Manager.
Primary and Secondary Research: Conduct thorough, detailed desk research on a regular basis across multiple studies to gain a thorough understanding of project objectives with the goal of better informing the client and the consulting team.
- Primary Interviewing: Conduct interviews with trade associations, leading companies and internal Euromonitor associates to gain insights into specific custom research objectives.
- Secondary Research: Utilize in house resources and external published information to more clearly understand the market and companies under review.
- Share new resources with colleagues and seek out new sources of information.
Research Management: oversee and be responsible for on-going custom research work for projects, including:
- Client Communication:
- Client communication from project inception through project completion, ensuring that all core objectives are met.
- Presenting findings via phone and in-person to clients to ensure that all client objectives have been met.
- Understanding, maintaining and developing the relationship between Euromonitor and any custom research client.
- Project Set-up:
- The planning of projects including development of briefs, templates and other supporting materials necessary for meeting all project objectives.
- Conducting preliminary research into new project areas in order to develop more useful project documents.
- Project Execution:
- The day to day line management of any contract analysts (as relevant) including regular communication via phone and email, establishing schedules and administering final payments.
- Work closely with the Research Recruiter to ensure that projects are adequately resourced and that the pool and quality of contract analysts matches project volume and complexity.
- Continued upkeep of all folders and materials associated with current projects to ensure that all information is easily accessible to other relevant Euromonitor personnel.
- A full review of all generated materials via querying, validation and final interpretation of data and analysis to fully meet client objectives.
- Liaising with colleagues in other regional offices to ensure that all project team members have a clear understanding of goals, objectives and timelines.
- Delivering timely, thorough analysis that meets client objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in consulting or market research
- Highly developed research skills and knowledge of desk research and sources, trade interviewing and a solid understanding of and/or experience in strategy and competitive analysis
- Experience in presenting to clients at an executive level
- Experience evaluating, manipulating and analyzing numerical data
- Highly numerate and possess an analytical mindset, critical thinker with a structured yet creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to formulate appropriate research solutions and manage complex ad hoc research projects to a successful outcome
- First class organisational skills, including prioritisation, scheduling, multi-tasking and comprehensive, unfailing attention to detail
- Excellent written/verbal presentation skills
- English & Mandarin fluency a must (both written & oral)
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Tenacity, attention to detail and commercial awareness
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
- Big data analytics experience (for example python), AI assistant project experience is a strong plus
